For over 150 years, the city of Plauen and the surrounding villages have been known for the beauty and quality of their lace. Over the last few decades the number of manufacturers has rapidly decreased in the face of increasing competition from Asia. Now only a very small handful of manufacturers in Europe, let alone Plauen, make lace with natural materials such as linen and cotton. Compared to other laces, the making of cotton lace requires more thread and more intensive work, which is why it has become so rare today.

Sachsen Imports is pleased to bring you this exclusive line of liturgical lace edging, also known as church lace. It is used most often as edging for altar cloths.
